Episode 2 picks up where episode 1 left off; Buffy is pinned in a stone coffin by one of the Master's powerful servants, Luke. Fortunately, he's frightened off by a cross necklace that Angel gave Buffy when they met in the first episode. After escaping, she saves Willow (again) and Xander from more vampires in the graveyard. She then discovers that Xander's friend Jesse has been taken by the vampires.
Buffy tries to rescue Jesse and is followed by Xander. They soon discover that it's a trap and Jesse has been turned. After they escape, they discover that the Master is going to try to free himself by using a "Vessel" to drain souls from kids at the Bronze. The gang shows up a little late to save some of the people, but in the end Buffy defeats Luke and the rest of the vampires (though a few run away).
My favorite quote from this episode comes at the end when Giles, after seeing Buffy's light-hearted attitude about the impending dangers of living on the Hellmouth, remarks "The earth is doomed."

Season 1, Episode 1 - Welcome to the Hellmouth
The first episode of Buffy the Vampire slayer introduces several of the characters that play major roles throughout Buffy and Angel. Willow, Xander, Giles, Cordelia, Angel, and Buffy all make appearances in the series premiere. The episode also introduces two major villains: the Master, Buffy's nemesis throughout season one, and Darla, Angel's sire (though that isn't explained until later). Principal Flutie also begins his short-lived run on the show during this episode.
The story is basically just an introduction to the various important characters. Buffy meets Giles, her Watcher, for the first time. She attempts to resist his insistence on further training of her Slayer abilities, until Willow is taken by a vampire to be fed to the Master. Xander and Willow discover Buffy's role as the slayer as she saves Willow's life. Unfortunately, Buffy is surprised by one of the Master's strongest servants and the episode ends as he pins her in a stone coffin.
My favorite quote from this episode comes from Cordelia, after she is assaulted by Buffy upon startling her outside of the Bronze : "What is your childhood trauma?"

Introduction
Welcome to my blog about the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe. I will be discussing episodes, characters, and events from the Buffy and Angel television shows. I have been a fan of the shows since the first season of Buffy aired. I have seen every episode at least twice, and I will be reviewing them as I progress through both series yet again. There will be spoilers, so be careful!
